When this banner turned up in my inbox, verily did it cause me to chortle mightily. Have your voice be heard! For you are all individuals!

So, was the choice of picture clueless or intentionally ironic or a sly and deliberate poke at Star Wars fandom?

This picture cracks me up mightily:

I just love the idea that the people who drive the crawlers that deliver the Space Shuttle stacks from the VAB to the launch pads are in need of direction. But imagine the embarrassment of the person who drives Atlantis to Pad A when it was supposed to go to Pad B! What a faux pas! What a merry ribbing such a person would expect.

At university today I had half an hour to kill before going to a talk by Richard Stallman (of which more later). I went into the UBS, not planning to buy anything. A book called “Lost Languages – The Enigma of the World’s Undeciphered Scripts” by one Andrew Robinson caught my eye, as I love that stuff greatly. I was umming and ahhing over whether to buy it, when the following hilarious endorsement on the back decided the matter for me:

“Robinson’s enthusiasm for the subject is so infectious that you might find yourself trying to crack Etruscan in your spare time.”
